Give each surface the right job

A Google Business Profile is a Google-controlled local listing. Your website is the business-controlled destination. The profile can present calls, directions, reviews, photos, and updates; the website can explain services, qualifications, process, policies, detailed proof, and next steps without the same format limits.

Keep important business facts consistent

Use the same real-world business name and accurate phone wherever the business is represented. Address handling depends on the actual business model and Google's eligibility rules. A service-area business should not display a customer-facing address merely to influence ranking. Website schema should reflect verified public facts, not invent coordinates, hours, ratings, or locations.

Send visitors to the most useful page

The primary website link should usually lead to a strong homepage or local landing page that accurately represents the business. Appointment, menu, product, or service links should lead to the relevant experience when the profile supports them. Avoid sending every action to an unrelated homepage.

Make website proof and profile proof reinforce each other

Use real photos, accurate services, and current policies. The profile may surface recent customer reviews; the website can provide permission-safe project examples and explain how the company works. Do not copy reviews without considering platform rules and customer permission, and never create fake reviews or gate unhappy customers away from public feedback.

Measure the complete journey

Profile insights and website analytics answer different questions. Use trackable website links where appropriate, maintain phone and form measurement responsibly, and compare activity with qualified inquiries and sales. Direction requests or page views are useful signals, but they are not automatically revenue.

Create a maintenance rhythm

  • Check name, phone, address/service area, categories, hours, and website links.
  • Update seasonal or holiday hours before customers rely on them.
  • Add authentic current photos and remove misleading outdated ones.
  • Respond professionally to reviews without exposing private customer details.
  • Watch for unauthorized profile edits and broken website destinations.
  • Review search and conversion evidence monthly.
Important: Google controls profile eligibility and display. No website provider can guarantee Map Pack placement. Avoid shortcuts involving fake locations, keyword-stuffed business names, purchased reviews, or duplicated city pages.

Before profile work, run the website redesign checklist and make sure the business controls the accounts in our ownership checklist.
